RTÉ broadcaster and journalist Áine Lawlor joined singer Lisa Lambe and historian Diarmaid Ferriter at ‘Give Us A Song’ in Liberty Hall, Sunday 5th February.

More than 80 choirs, groups and soloists have performed around the country to raise funds for the Caroline Foundation for Cancer Research and to mark World Cancer Day.

Events included school sing-alongs and sing-while-you-shop afternoons in supermarkets.

Oncologist Professor John Crown said the event was hugely important as “these are very exciting times in cancer research”.

“In particular, there have been major improvements in treatment and outcome for breast cancer patients, especially those with the most dangerous type, ‘HER2 positive’,” he said.
